How wafpricing.com collects, dates, and verifies prices

One job: be the most accurate place on the public web to look up what a WAF will cost in 2026. This page is the standing methodology that every other page on the site follows.

Source hierarchy

Every numeric claim on the site is taken from one of three sources, in this strict order of preference.

Re-verification cadence

1Step 1
Quarterly
Every vendor with a published rate is re-checked at least once a quarter against the live pricing page.
2Step 2
On change
When a vendor changes a published rate we re-stamp the verifiedDate, regenerate the matrix, and note the change in the changelog.
3Step 3
On vendor event
Acquisitions, product retirements, or pricing-model rewrites trigger an out-of-cycle refresh (StackPath shutdown, Fastly NGWAF page change).
4Step 4
On reader report
A reader-flagged stale rate is investigated within 5 business days and corrected on the live pricing page on the same calendar day.

Quote-only handling rules

We never invent a list rate
For the seven quote-only vendors in our matrix we record publicPricing=false, cheapestPublishedRate=null, and a label of “Quote only, contact vendor”. We do not divide an anonymised total by request volume to back into a per-request rate. We do not average buyer bands into a single number. We do not assume parity with a published-rate peer. The whole point of the site is to be the place that does not do this.

What “illustrative example, not a real company” means

Worked examples on the site use a fixed synthetic profile (for example 100M requests per month, 5 managed rule groups, bot management on). The profile is not anonymised from a real buyer. It exists so a reader can compare vendors on equal inputs. Every worked example carries the “(illustrative example, not a real company)” label.

What we will not publish

We will not publish inferred rates for quote-only vendors. We will not republish a buyer's identified contract value, even with permission, because the buyer's vendor relationship would suffer. We will not publish a discount percentage that requires assuming a vendor's list rate when no list rate exists.
